THE MISSION: To give diverse high-school students hands-on exposure and experience in creating content in a real world setting.
WHAT IS THE BRIC CREATIVE ACADEMY? A two-day intensive project challenge for teams to ideate, develop, and produce new content. Types of content and topics will vary.
WHAT WAS THE CHALLENGE? Students were to create a short film about “How Documentaries Change Your Perspective”
WHAT SCHOOLS PARTICIPATED? Engineering Magnet, Compton Early College High School, USC Hybrid High School, Manual Arts Senior High School & LACHSA.
HOW DID IT WORK? We had a group of industry expert “coaches” split up to guide and mentor the teams on their projects and assist them with creating their projects. Students from Compton Early College High School, USC Arts & Engineering Magnet, USC Hybrid High School, Los Angeles County High School for the Arts, and Manual Arts Senior High School Attended attended.
WHEN WAS IT? Saturday December 7th, 2019 through Sunday December 8th, 2019 at the NFMLA Docuslate Film Festival in Downtown Los Angeles.
WHAT WAS INCLUDED? NFMLA and AT&T Believe Los Angeles provided all equipment, materials, meals, and travel to and from the convention center for both days of the event. Students were also able to attend the Docuslate Film Festival with their parents after the event.
